Prosthetic restoration
The human body does not have an internal healing mechanism for damage to the hard tissues of the teeth, as it does for other body tissues. This means that any damage or loss of a tooth requires “external” help, using some material to repair and restore it.
So the assistance of the dentist is necessary, who will repair and restore any problem that has arisen in the mouth area by using some artificial material – seal, crown, bridge, implant.
This technique as well as its materials fall under the Dental Prosthetic Restoration category.
The restorations performed in our clinic are:
Stamping
It is the most well-known and most common method of restoring teeth that have been damaged by caries. The restoration with fillings is made with a synthetic resin, known as a “white” filling, which offers a perfect aesthetic result because it matches the color of the natural teeth.
Dental Crowns
Dental crowns, known as cases, are an indirect prosthetic restoration that replaces the entire visible part of the tooth (molar). Dental crowns are chosen for tooth restorations with extensive damage, where fillings are not sufficient. Cases are also inserted as an “artificial” tooth on bridges or implants. They are made in a dental laboratory with various materials such as gold, metal alloys, porcelain.
Dental Bridges
Dental bridges “fill” the gap formed in the mouth by the loss of one or more permanent natural teeth that have either been lost or extracted. They are fixed prosthetic restorations, which consist of one or more artificial teeth (bridge), which rest on two crowns placed on either side of the empty space, on the adjacent teeth that act as supports. In order for this to happen, the teeth that serve as abutments are ground, which is avoided in the technique of restoration with implants.
Metal alloys and Zirconia (white metal) are used for their construction. The bridge, above the frame, is covered with porcelain to reproduce the anatomy and aesthetics of the teeth as best as possible. By using Zirconia – more biocompatible than other materials, with a color that resembles that of natural teeth – the best possible “imitation” of the natural tooth is achieved.
Dentures
These are removable prosthetic restorations consisting of an acrylic base in pink color to resemble gums, on which artificial teeth made of acrylic or synthetic resin are supported. Dentures can be used when all teeth are missing – complete dentures – or when a row of teeth is missing – partial dentures. Partial dentures may have a built-in metal framework, bar, or mesh for strength or stability.
