Pediatric Dentistry / Prevention
With prevention, we aim to achieve the non-occurrence of cavities and gingivitis, as well as to study the space and position of the teeth as they are forming using conservative, non-invasive methods. In our clinic, we perform fluoride treatments and sealants, and we provide an initial assessment of the need for the child to be monitored by an orthodontist.
More specifically, we should not forget that tartar forms on children’s teeth as well, and they require cleaning. It is common for children to experience bleeding gums (gingivitis).
Also essential in the treatment of cavities, in addition to cleaning, is the topical application of fluoride, known as fluoridation, which should be done every 6 months. This helps prevent the progression of even the initial cavities before they develop into actual holes.
Preventive sealants, which are applied once to the back teeth of children, specifically on the molars, protect them from cavities by 99%!
During these visits, the development of the child’s jaws is also examined, ensuring there is sufficient space for the succession of permanent teeth. Advice is provided for the cessation of any oral habits, and preventive orthodontics may be applied to address or reduce the severity of any orthodontic issues.
